PRIVACY POLICY

Your files stay yours.

This policy explains what Detrivo processes, why it needs certain permissions, and the choices you have.

Effective 17 July 2026 · Version 1.0

1. Who operates Detrivo

Detrivo is operated by James Narzary, an independent developer based in India. For privacy questions, support, or grievances, email jnrzy007@gmail.com.

2. Information processed on your device

When you start a scan and grant access, Detrivo may process:

  • Photos and videos that you permit Detrivo to access.
  • Files and folders that you select.
  • File names, paths or local identifiers, types, sizes, and dates.
  • File contents solely to calculate local fingerprints and confirm exact duplicates.
  • Local scan results, including duplicate groups and estimated reclaimable storage.
  • Local preferences, such as your notification choice and last scan.

Detrivo does not require an account.

3. Why this information is processed

Detrivo processes this information to:

  • Find exact duplicate photos, videos, and files.
  • Display duplicate groups and storage estimates.
  • Let you review and select copies for deletion.
  • Remember local scan results and preferences.
  • Provide optional scan-result notifications or reminders.
  • Maintain the security and operation of the app.

4. On-device processing

Detrivo performs file comparison and fingerprinting locally. The current production design does not upload your media, file contents, fingerprints, scan results, or file names to a Detrivo server. Detrivo does not sell this information, use it for advertising, or use it for cross-app tracking.

If a future version transmits diagnostics, analytics, account information, or other information off your device, this policy and the relevant store disclosures will be updated before that processing begins.

5. Permissions and your choices

  • Photos and videos: used to scan permitted media for exact duplicates.
  • Files and folders: limited to locations you select through your operating system where that option is available.
  • Notifications: used for optional scan-result alerts and reminders.
  • Background processing: may allow occasional checks, but your operating system decides whether and when they run.

You may refuse or later revoke a permission in device settings. Refusing a permission only limits the feature that needs it.

6. Deletion safeguards

Detrivo never deletes files automatically. You must review and select duplicate copies, confirm deletion in Detrivo, and approve any operating-system confirmation. One displayed item in each duplicate group is protected from selection. Deletion may be permanent, so keep an independent backup of important files.

7. Retention, sharing, and security

Local results and preferences remain on your device until replaced, cleared through app or device controls, or removed when you uninstall Detrivo. Detrivo does not maintain a remote user profile in this version.

Because scanned information is not transmitted to the operator, the operator normally cannot access or disclose it. Detrivo minimizes access, uses operating-system permission controls, and avoids storing unnecessary copies of your media. No software can guarantee absolute security.

8. Children

Detrivo is a general-audience storage utility and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly request an account, name, email address, advertising identifier, or user profile from children.

9. Your rights

You may:

  • Decline or revoke app permissions.
  • Turn notifications off.
  • Clear local app data through device settings.
  • Uninstall Detrivo to remove local app data.
  • Contact the operator with a privacy question or grievance.

Where applicable law provides rights of access, correction, erasure, nomination, complaint, or consent withdrawal, contact us at jnrzy007@gmail.com. Because this version has no account or remote user database, the operator may not possess information that can be retrieved or deleted remotely.

10. India and international availability

For users in India, applicable requests will be handled under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, its rules as they become applicable, and other applicable Indian law. If Detrivo is offered in additional markets, notices and controls required by those markets will be assessed before distribution.

11. Changes and contact

The effective date above identifies the current policy. Material changes to data handling will be explained through the app, store listing, or another effective notice where required.
